The Problem

Even after 5 years after Katrina hit the community of New Orleans is still suffering from the effects of it. Many homes have been destroyed, but our focus is the education of the children. After Katrina, New Orleans has only been able to reopen 12 schools. As a spring break alternative trip we would like to help build the foundation that will be for the future children of not only New Orleans but the world.

Plan of Action

Our plan is to work with an organization called Relief Sparks. This will the second year we work with this non-profit that connected us to a newly opened school, McDonough 42. We helped paint, stain, and tutored at the school for a week straight. This year, we would like to reconnect and see the progress, but also contribute more to the growing progress. We have built connections with the students there and are excited to reconnect with the relationships we built with the children. Returning we will be rebuilding the cottage on campus into a learning center at the school. All these projects are organized by Relief Sparks.
