The Problem
In the US nearly 1.2 million public high school students drop out every year. This is way to many. And unfortunately its often because the family will not give support. With Books of Hope you can bring the hope back into children's and high schoolers lives that people do care about them and do want them to make it. Hold a book drive in your school, church, community and collect these books. Then you can donate them to local charities that will distribute them to the appropriate place. If you want to make it more special you can even make cards that go wit the books.
Plan of Action
To do this project you can be an accredited Teens Taking Action city or do it under your own club. If you are not a TTA city you can contact us at teenstakingaction@ymail.com or visit our website at www.teenstakingaction.org for more info. Once you become a TTA you can get all the info you need to run this project and other great projects. When this is completed you will need to have a location where you will be collecting books. You could talk to your local book stores, grocery, clothing, churches, schools and see if you would be able to have drop off locations at those buildings. Then once that is set in stone contact your local media outlets to let the community know about your drive. Find your local shelter or charity that can take these books to the appropriate locations. You can add more special things but this is the overall method.
