The Problem

Our club would like to address the problem of hunger in our local area. We have decided to start a vegetable garden this summer, and to donate all of the vegetables that we grow to a local shelter. There are several homeless shelters in our area, and we feel that we can make a positive impact by providing fresh vegetables to those in need. Our project also addresses environmental issues. In the process of starting and tending to our garden, we will learn valuable information about organic agriculture, which we hope to pass on to educate others about environmentally conscious farming.

Plan of Action

Steps taken so far: - Securing a plot for our garden at a local farm - Partnering with Katie's Krops, an organization that starts and maintains vegetable gardens and donates the harvest to help feed people in need. Katie's Krops has provided our club with funding for our garden, as well as advice and guidance about gardening. Visit katieskrops.com for more information about Katie's Krops. - Establishing relationships with local companies to provide supplies for our garden. Future steps include: - Tending to our garden on a daily basis - Harvesting our vegetables - Using our vegetables to cook meals for a homeless shelter
