The Problem

We're trying to solve the lack of education, and awareness about Arnold Chiari Malformation which is a rare and server neurological condition. As well as fix the lack of help provided to individuals and families who suffer from the condition. Chiari is a server neurological condition where the tonsils of the cerebellum are pulled through the opening at the base of the skull pushing on the spinal cord. It creates extra pressure around the brain as well as the spinal cord. It can cause some major symptoms such as dizziness, headaches nausea, balance problems, motor skill problems, lightheadedess, passing out, swallowing and speech problems, as well as some other symptoms.

Plan of Action

We are currently in the process of filing to become an official organization, which will allow us to do more things. We are making and selling purple awareness bracelets and the money collected is going towards the fees of the legal paper work. Any money collected after all the paper work is paid for, will start going towards forming the two funds, one for education scholarships and the other for financial help for families. After becoming an official organization we plan to start planning events to raise awareness and educate the community about Chiari Malformation as well as other invisible diseases. Also to educate students in schools about how although someone may look fine, they still may really be sick, and also that although someone may have a disease, they're still just like everyone else. We want to teach about acceptance to not only students but the entire community in general. We also hope to start with other fundraising projects, other bracelets, events and whatever else we're able to dream up.
