The Problem

Khalishpur Khulna, located in Bangladesh, is a community crowded with impoverished children who lack proper care and basic day-to-day necessities. Children are entitled to have basic school materials such as paper/crayons/etc. However the children of this community are drawn into the depths of poverty, which disable them from receiving these simple items people in other parts of the world tend to take for granted.

Plan of Action

We have conducted several presentations discussing the many goals of our organization and the importance behind it. Seeing the conditions of Khulna, Bangladesh, from beforehand, we prepared ourselves as to what we may offer to the community/children and prepared these items to be donated. We visited several communities and as we distributed the materials, the parents and teachers had no words to express their gratitude towards us. As for the children, their smiles bought tears to my eyes, for they were all so delighted and happy for what we had given them. Some began to cry out of joy, while others could not stop the luminous smile on their faces.They grasped onto our clothes and when it was time to leave, they continued to trail behind us. Everyone's smile in the community lit up the entire village with appreciation for the simple items we had donated and the time we had taken to let them know their children ARE important, for we had given them something to remember for the rest of their lives.
