I wanted to volunteer at my nearby elementary school, which is Jonestown Elementary School. I talked with the principal, and she thought it would be great to have the forth, fifth, and sixth graders that are bullies or are being bullied have a small session to help them with their problems. The school guidance counselor, Ms. Carpenter, and I took over the session. I had to come up with ideas or lesson plans that we would do for about forty-five minutes every Tuesday and Thursday at the end of their day. Sometimes we would play games, have them work together, worked on worksheets, shared things about themseleves and got everyone involved. I did this last year from December until March. I am continuing the Bullying Program this year starting in October. I am really excited because I really do think that it helps a lot. The teachers and principal both said that they were seeing a difference in the children. It made me feel great that I could help the school and the children by volunteering some of my time. I had fun doing it. Plus it gave me some experience because I want to become an elementary school teacher. It was very rewarding and I know this year it will be too.
