Caddo Mills FCCLA Goes Green
the problem:
Our chapter’s main concern is that students in our school district and families in our community do not know the risks that are placed on our environment by not recycling. We are also concerned that students, teachers, and community members do not have a way to recycle in our schools and community.
Our goal is to increase recycling in our community through family and school involvement in order to make a positive impact in our environment.
We plan on forming a committee within our chapter that will help increase awareness of recycling and the “Caddo Mills FCCLA Goes Green” project in our school district and the community. We plan to place recycling bins in all computer labs and by all printers and copiers throughout the district. We will also place trash cans specifically for cans and plastic bottles in the cafeterias and at all sporting events. The committee will brainstorm ways to better involve the community. Planning will start in November 2007 and our kickoff of the project will be January 2, when we return from Winter break. Our chapter will budget two hundred dollars for this project. By starting a recycling program in the schools and informing parents of the environmental dangers caused by not recycling, we hope to increase the amount of recycling in our community.
