The Problem
Cambodia has undergone dramatic changes since the reign of the Communist Khmer Rouge from 1975 to 1979 when an estimated 2 million people perished through forced labor, execution, starvation, and disease. The Khmer Rouge closed all schools, hospitals, businesses, and churches and made it their goal to kill everyone with an education. Poverty and illiteracy now remain obstacles for many Cambodians, especially in rural areas.
Plan of Action
Veterans International Cambodia assists in the rehabilitation of Cambodians living with disabilities who have been victims of war and poverty. Some on our team will be doing physical therapy sessions, while others will be doing workshops with kids as well as staff training. http://www.ic-vic.org/History.html
