In Purdy, Missouri, there's a camp for diabled Christian children called Camp Barnabas. Each year, hundreds of children arrive at this camp in search for the only week of the year when they can be exactly like everybody else. Each week a new catagory of diasabled children come in. Each week a camper and their one-on-one counsler learn to love a complete stranger and become best friends. Each week hundreds of lives are impacted. As a senior in high school, I had my first experiance at Camp Barnabas as one of those counslers. It is an experiance I will never forget. I was blessed with the most intellectual person I'd ever met for a camper. It's really true, what they tell you when you arrive for training, what you give the campers couldn't even be close to what your camper gives you. In just a week, my camper impacted my life like I never could have expected. I look at life with a whole new perspective and take what I learned from that experiance and apply it to what I do in my daily life. I give speeches in my chruch, trying to recruit others for the camp in hopes that they will also be able to have this once in a lifetime experiance. I hope I will be one of the chosen applicants for this summer, so I can again learn from one of life's greatest treasures, children.
