We are planning to start a Campus Kitchen at the College of William and Mary modeled after the DC Central Kitchen and affiliated with the connected Campus Kitchen Project (http://www.campuskitchens.org/). The goal is to take unused food from local restaurants and grocery stores and repackage it as healthy meals for non-profit organizations in the surrounding area. That way we involve the community by working within the existing framework of hunger assistance and by bringing in local businesses. We plan to pick up the food, prepare it in the college cafeteria kitchen, and deliver it to the organizations on a twice-weekly basis using the resources of college students on campus and community groups such as churches and civic societies. Our aim is to alleviate hunger in the Williamsburg area while raising awareness in the community.

This looks like a great project! I didn’t hear anything about it since now… Did you succeeded to make this campus? I might help you if you want. I have some appliance parts that I don’t need, lots of them that might help. :)
