The Problem

The Canadian seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals in the world. I am currently trying to bring this to an end by urging my local restaurants and grocery stores to boycott Canadian seafood. This has an impact on the seal hunt because the same men who are killing the baby seals gain most of their profit from selling seafood around the world. Therefore, if we boycott these people, we will be sending a message that we will not support this cruel and inhumane slaughter.

Plan of Action

My plan of action is to first send thank you notes to the restaurants and grocers that are already boycotting Canadian seafood. I think it is very important that they be applauded for their dedication and kindness. Then I would like to get in contact with the manager of some major seafood restaurants and educate them about the Canadian seal hunt. Then I will provide them with alternate options other than buying Canadian seafood. After presenting them with the information I have collected throughout the years, I will follow up with them continuously to ensure that they are making the switch to a more humane choice.
