The Problem
Our church parish, St. John Neumann's, has a large population of elderly people. Many of these people have trouble performing simple tasks such as gardening, raking, cleaning out gutters, and painting.
Plan of Action
This group grew from a specific group of myself and five of my friends after we went on a service retreat in West Virginia. We have helped many parishoners already, and the program was such a hit at our church that many of the first participants look forward to recreating the November Carpe Diem later on, probably in the spring.
The idea is that this program would become an annual or biannual event.
The problem is, four of the original six of us are seniors graduating this year. In order for this program to grow, we intend to reach out to other teens within our parish. To do this, we need to get their attention, invite them to other smaller programs, and otherwise get them involved.
