The Problem

Our problem, involves the many negative perceptions, valid and fallacious alike, that our community has been subjected to, and is receiving. So in response, a few head-strong individuals, myself included, led by a strong-willed and stable-minded individual, have started this organization. We're striving to change some of these, while at the same time increasing community/ civic involvement and instilling a sense of personal community pride. Our website, http://www.imachanger.org, is there to promote community involvement, with everyone in the community.

Plan of Action

The Mission of Changing the Perception Inc. is to transform the negative perceptions that are associated with certain aspects of Orangeburg, South Carolina’s community life. Those aspects entail the growth of positive youth based initiatives, the improvement of racial harmony, decreasing voter apathy, and improving the city’s health and environmental standards. We aim to implement this change through community service projects that emphasize racial solidarity, voter registration drives, and increasing public knowledge on health and environmental risk related factors.
