The Problem
Believe it or not, most people aren't aware of even the most basic environmental or social issues out there. This isn't necessarily because they don't care, it has more to so with the fact that most media outlets broadcast information about today's news topics in ways most people, especially the youth, don't understand. This along the the downward spiral of quality most of today's films and music artists we are experiencing has inspired me to start my own social blog. The blog is aimed at encouraging a different mindset among the members of our generation. A mindset that values awareness of political, social and even religious goings-ons and a sense of high quality in the media that we all take in on a day-to-day basis.
With an interactive blog that features our history's most groundbreaking, politically themed and inspiring music along with fun and easy to understand political talk radio and video skits, I plan on taking the idea of "truly being aware of our world and its issues" and making it as accessible as possible by ANYONE. Think of it as a CNN meets Dosomething.org meets your favorite local radio station meets Oprah Magazine. What I am founding is more than a website, it's a movement that focuses on reversing our culture's trend of "accepting ignorance and hate" as standard ways of life.
You may have been wondering why the blog is titled "Fwhatyaheard.com". My goal as a political activist and social entrepreneur is to help people dismiss the claims and notions pitched to us in most media forms that "being ignorant, cruel, selfish and plain hateful is the new cool". There has indeed been a push by celebrities such as Lady Gaga or P!nk that encourages people to "raise their freak flags" and begin to "accept each other for who we are" while becoming more active in our communities, but I don't feel as if that is enough. The internet is ripe for a movement like Fwhatyaheard.com's. I have never been more certain about anything else in my life!
Plan of Action
I have already purchased the rights to the name for my website. Now, it's simply a matter of me gathering the capital to 1) Start the website design process 2) purchase streaming rights for the internet radio division and 3) purchase mic recording equipment along with services for the web hosting and software.
This will not be an overnight job and will take much time, precision and effort, but this WILL be done. I am simply asking for the help from organizations such as dosomething.org to help get the ball rolling on this thing as soon as possible.
