The Problem

The volunteers of Charitable Arts are trying to end the cycle of poverty through art and education. We work with charitable organizations that help impoverished children. We bring art supplies teach them to paint and help them create paintings that are sold later at fund raising functions. The funds raised from the sale of the artwork are then given to the organization assisting the children. In this way we teach the children that through their own work and effort, they can help their sponsoring organization and in turn help themselves.

Plan of Action

Charitable Arts works with charitable organizations in the US and internationally that assists impoverished children. To date we have raised over $25,000 and brought much needed awareness to the charitable organizations that we help. Charitable Arts is also providing the funds to build a small community high school in an impoverished fishing village the village near San Carlos, Mexico. This high school is much needed since the current high school is so far away that the children of the village generally drop out after finishing their elementary education do to lack of transportation. The new high school is currently being built in their village and should be completed in 2011. While the projects we fund and organizations we help greatly appreciate the financial assistance we have been able to provide, we never forget that the overriding goal of our organization to show the children how they can help themselves and that through their hard work and effort they can improve their lives. Our longer term goal, through the assistance of groups like the Do Something organization, is to continue expanding Charitable Arts beyond the current schools which have started chapters to be able to improve the self worth and self determination of children who need assistance in ending their cycle of poverty.
