The Problem

The homeless population in Chicago has been drastically growing since the mid-70's. Unfortunately, the government at both the local and federal levels have failed severely in preparing for and dealing with the issue of homelessness. Often times they give the general population reason to treat the homeless without a sense of empathy, sympathy or even humaneness. People freeze to death in the winter and over dose in the summer. These people have been stripped of all wealth, all responsibility, and often friends.

Plan of Action

Our organization thrives on friendship and community. My friends helped me start this and our homeless friends in the city have encouraged us to continue to be with them. Friends of ours have made this group blossom into what it is today, and we receive hefty donations from Church groups and friends all around the Chicago-land area offering to help us out. We have made very good friends with several homeless people in the city, and have brought one man in particular to a shelter in the suburbs where he is now clean from his drug and alcohol addictions. We have also helped in creating homeless awareness in our respective academic institutions as well as created interested in treating all people as family, whether poor or rich.
