Children change the world
the problem:
I want to give children between the ages of 8-12 a place to learn and make friends without it being a school setting. I want to help eliminate the in between feeling that older Elementary students feel after they no longer benefit well from children programs but are not quite ready for Middle school programs.

0why it's important:
During that age period in my life I did not really have any friends except friends I met from school. I think this is a crucial time for children to make long lasting friends and have fun learning. I have viewed and experienced the lost feeling some children feel a this time. I believe with someone to look up to, the children will grow closer with the adult volunteers and be able to ask for guidance from someone other then their parents.
the plan of action:
I am planning on cooperating with my church to make a program that Older Elementary students may feel as though they belong. I have already begun working with this age group within my church to build relationships with them.
In the program I would implement a program that mixes fun with learning. Including play in education is important because it helps set in the ideas taught. This program would take place ideally on a Friday. This would give this age group a safe and fun thing to do like children older then them have the opportunity to spend some nights hanging out with friends.
