The Problem

Christmas Biek Giveaway 2011 will assist Get A Life with providing bikes to children in our target area that we serve. These children are primarily from families that are low income and cannot afford to purchase bikes or toys for their children. We would like to give away bikes to these children to give them a good Christmas. We do this in partmership with other organizations and sponsors. Last year we had to scrape for money due to people not following through with their financial commitments. Do Something org seed grant would help us with purchasing some of the bikes.

Plan of Action

My plan of action is to provide 50-100 bikes to children during the Christmas Season 2011. I will do this by having two registration events where the parent or guardian must register the child at the Get A Life headquarters. I will make fliers and make the registration between a certain timeframe. Any families that arrive after the registration tiem can coem to the next registration. Once we reach our capacity we will then register children for toys. We will give each parent a ticket to bring back to redeem bike or toy. The bikes will be purchased with funds collected through fundraisers, sponsors and hopefully the seed grant. Bikes range from $45 -$90 per bike. We will also host toydrives for the toy gifts. I truly look forward to this event! The look on the facs of the children make it worth all the work and time put into the project.
