Initially, the idea had to be approved by both the Parish council and the local priest. Then, the platform had to be located on an established server/network that would be accessible for both updating and word document attachments at a reasonable cost to the parish. Both of these steps have taken a number of months to not only initiate, but gain the necessary confirmations.
Now, initiating the website requires an initial format that has gone back to the priest for initial approval. The idea is to have a main webpage with various active links and a backdrop picture of the Church, tactfully stating main contact people, groups and rotating some parishoner businesses. Additional pages will support the weekly bulletin, a monthly calendar, lay schedules, other community functions, parish council minutes and even possibly local advertisements.
This sounds fairly simple, but the drafting stages are like building a house. Without good foundation the structure may stand, but will not be desirable by all and most likely costly to maintain. So far, the ideas have developed onto a main document with attachments and needs additional approval to actually be activated. I am positive this site will take-off and be a great benefit to everyone inside the parish and out.
