the problem:
The American Cancer Society is an organization that helps those with cancers try and recieve the right treatment to help fight their battle and I am trying to make every effort to put forth my time to make this action possible.

11why it's important:
This volunteer experience is important to me beacause my grandmother is currently fighting a battle with cancer all throughout her body and it hurts me to see her in pain. I also know friends and friends of friends who have or had cancer. I really want my impact to be something I know is going for a good cause.
the plan of action:
The American Cancer Society has provided donation cans, support bracelets, posters, and flyers to be handed out for anyone that would like to participate in the Relay for Life. The Relay for Life is being held at our local park and it allows anyone inside and outside of the community to come walk for the cancer patients. I personally have collected over $100 for this event and the donation period is still not over. I am the team leader for my team and I have committed the most time for this event. I will continue to do so, always keeping in mind those who are suffering during their battle with cancer.

Others can help by going to local businesses and looking for donation cans to drop in any spare change they may have. They may also go online and donate to the American Cancer Society for Relay for Life at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=21039&pg=entry. They also can mail in their donations to the main office of the American Cancer Society.
