The Problem
I'm trying to help out my citys Animal Shelter. I volunteer at the animal shelter every week walking dogs and playing with them. We also clean cages for cats and dogs. Our family has also fostered animals. I'm trying to help make the community more aware of pet adoptions and need for volunteers and donations.
Why It's Important
I recently did my Eagle Project, which was a supply drive and money drive. It help the animal sheleter with supplys for almost 6 months or more. The project also benefited animals that needed medical care. I was also able to put ads in the paper for pet adoptions.
The Plan Of Action
I emailed many pet food companies asking for donations which was quite successful. I had scouts help me put out 500 bags on homes asking for donations and then a week later we picked them up. I put out jars collecting money at business for the medical care and ads. It was quite successful and we were able to help out animals that needed medical treatment. I was able to help the animal shelter with food and supplys for atleast 6 months. I was able to put ads in the paper for pet adoptions those animals have been adopted.
How Can Others Get Involved?
Others can help by donating items to their local animals shelter or humane society. Or just volunteer their time to play and walk the animals.

Update: The animal shelter is overpopulated and unfortunatly has been hit by parvo recently. Due to the huge numbers of kittens and puppys they have had to be put in temporary cages. My project is to make the public aware. A local animal lover that is a pet photographer lives near me and also volunteers at the shelter. She takes wonderful pet photos, she took all the photos for me. Then we placed ads in the local paper for adoptions. Adoptions are up thankfully.Additional people involved: 5

How did the project unfold and develop? My project has to do with the City Animal Shelter. The animals are in desperate need of adoption. We are overpopulated and do to that cats and dogs are living in portable cages. I used the money to put ads in the local paper showing pictures of animals that are in desperate need of adoption. I also used the money for animal medical care. We have had a bad run of parvo thru the shelter.
