The Problem

Many people in third world countries don't have access to clean, safe water. 1 billion people don't have access to clean, safe water.

Why It's Important

Our clean water campaign is our worldly project. Its purpose is to raise money and awareness for the water conditions in third world countries. We hope to raise money by asking students and community members to donate $30 instead of buying something they don't need (new shoes, make-up, speakers, etc.) Our goal is $3000 which we will be donating to MercyCorp- an organization whose goal is to help people in poverty and disaster situations. http://www.mercycorps.org/ (check out their site- we want to buy three well mercy kits) Basically $30 is enough to supply one person in a third world country with clean water for the remainder of their life. Water that is necessary for them to even have a "remainder of their life." This project may take a few weeks to get going due to details we have to work out such as permission for a wall, making the movie and copying DVDs, and setting up a bank account.

The Plan Of Action

We have finished the video! over the Christmas break members are showing people the video and informing them of the facts! Once we get back from Christmas break, we are going to sit outside the cafeteria every thursday for a month or two showing students the video and asking for donations.

How Can Others Get Involved?

If you know someone who would like to donate, show them a copy of our video, or watch it on youtube and bring donations to Jasper High School!

Project Updates

11/27/08
Update: We got the music video portion of our clean water campaign movie filmed! We are going to put this video together with the movie about what $30 can do for someone in a third world country (provide them with water for the rest of their life) and the moral is to say "everyone is someone's angel, be their angel for $30)

Additional hours volunteered: 6
