Cleaning Up The Environment Club

the problem:

The Cleaning Up The Environment (CUTE) Club is working to minimalize the waste at Westlake High School by collecting and sorting recyclable materials. Little by little, the CUTE Club is working to lessen the high school's evironmental impact.

vital stats:

people impacted:

2,600

people involved:

100

why it's important:

We only have one earth!

the plan of action:

Every Thursday the CUTE Club member's assemble during lunch and go around to the distributed recycling bins and collect all of the recyclable materials. They then sort the materials into glass, aluminum, and plastic and deposit them in bins to be collected by a recycling company.

how you can get involved:

Start a recycling club at your school! If your school district isn't willing to pay for a recycling company to come and pick up your goods, use membership fees to fund a pickup. Or rent a truck a couple of times a year and haul it all off. It's not too difficult to make your school a little more green!
