The Problem

I believe that as a youth leader, I have been called to reach out to the upcoming generation in any way possible. The avenue I chose to explore was to coach an Upward Basketball League team at FBC Terrell in Terrell, Tx. Not only do I give the kids an encouraging environment, I teach them manner, life lessons, and important useful skills as well. All the while, the children love the program and get to practice a fit and active lifestyle of a safe basketball environment. The city in which I live is a very tough, rigid community, and helping the kids stay productive and impact their families by their actions changes lives.

Plan of Action

I definitely plan to coach again this year and I really can't wait to see what is in store for me! I still have kids from my team run up to me at local convenient stores, jump up and hug my leg, and yell "Coach Matt!!!" That alone makes everything worth while. Then, when I hear from their parents how much of a difference they've seen in their child through my team, that is the exact reason why I am involved in such a way.
