The Problem

The majority of youth in my community feel they cannot afford college, therefore they finish high school and hit the streets; which leads to prisons, pregnancies, and unemployement lines. Youth in my community limit themselves, and won't allow themselves the audacity to have a dream and reach for it.

Why It's Important

I feel more youth should take advantage of the "first generation" scholarships available. I believe they do not know how many oppportunities are out there if they spend a little time looking for them. Computers with internet may not always be available to them, and they may not know where to look even if they have the access. I want to help more high school graduates move on to college and pursue an education.

The Plan Of Action

Put together packets with information on Scholarships, internships, and grants. Conduct monthly monthly workshops at local High Schools. One hour sessions that provide latest information, financial aids options, websites to research, apply for waivers, SAT prep, etc.

How Can Others Get Involved?
