The Problem

Making the shelter animals more comfortable and more relaxed so they are more desirable to potential pet owners

Plan of Action

1. Write letters to solicitate donations of necessary supplies to make pet beds and treat bags. 2. Create pet beds and treat bags. 3. Continue to have drives for supplies for the shelter. 4. Deliver completed beds and treat bags to the shelter along with all the collected food and supplies.

Project Updates

We made our first delivery of pet beds, treat bags and supply donations to the Humane Society. The shelter was very happy with all the items that were donated. They were also very excited about all the pet beds we made. A few of the volunteers couldn't believe we actually sewed them all ourselves.

While we were at the shelter, we were able to tell them about the grant we won. We told them by the end of summer we would have at least 50 more beds and 50 more treat bags. The shelter was ecstatic when they realized that our project was not just a one time thing. They liked the idea of this being on ongoing project.

We have been able to utilize coupons from our local paper to get the material we need for even less than we anticipated. When we were at Joann's we were telling the manager about Dosomething.org and our project. He decided to give us an extra 10% off because he said we were doing a cool thing.
