The Problem
The project was to help bring relief to the world water shortage. Active:Water is working to build and maintain freshwater wells in Africa- currently in Zambia. I will never know how many people were impacted, hopefully people in multiple villages in Zambia.
Plan of Action
Active:Water works with atheletes to raise funds to go to Zambia well building and repairs. I set up a challenge for myself to ride my bicycle across the state and collected donations and pledges from my community and church to go to Active:Water. Above, I put that the time involved was 13 hours. That was actual time on the ride. I trained at least 60 hours on the bike and close to that many hours running and weight lifting to get in shape for the ride. I also spent several hours [12+] fund raising for an approximate total of 130 hours over a six week period. My parents helped me oraganize the fundraising and accompanied me in the support car for the trip.
