Want to make a change.. want to be part of something big that could change the future of the next generation?Join me... If you love to dance.. and you love teaching.... then this is for you! I am trying to start a program in the community, mainly at Ben Davis high school. What is it? well its a dance program avaliable to everyone, young and old but focusing more on the young. We all know some of the problems that were being created by the younger generation. After school activities have shown to prevent kids from getting into trouble and the last time i checked BD only had sports for after school programs. I want to start teaching ballroom dancing and with the help of the community, D.A.R.E., some connections, friends and family i think it is possible. The main reason would be to prevent use of drugs. All students that would be in detention would have a choice of sitting with a math or english tutor or participate in this program instead of sleeping or wasting time. Most of those students have drug problems but this could help them stay away from them. People in the community could join to, it wouldnt have to be just teens. I am trying to get in touch with Fred Astair ballroom dancing company to see if they would like to partner up and help teach. Also I have contacted D.A.R.E. due to their dance program they have. This would be a great way to give back to the community and share our love of dancing. You might be asking if ppl would participate, but who doesnt love dancing with the stars, who doesnt love being twirled around on the dance floor, and who doesnt like looking good while doing it?! i dont know how long it is going to take to get this program started, but it is in the works... and every person helps! Help get this started and again, this is for all ages... I have ideas brewing and would love new ones from every one else!
