why it's important:

Because if you don't care about the people of Darfur, then who will?

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
-Margaret Mead

the plan of action:

The Darfur Peace and Development Organization (DPDO) promotes awareness of the Darfur crisis in the United States and advocates for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

DPDO has vigorously engaged in activities that educate the public to the situation in Darfur. DPDO representatives travel all over the US to speak to groups willing to take action in support of the people of Darfur.

how you can get involved:

DPDO has speakers in many areas of the US. All are well qualified to make presentations on the issues of the Darfur crisis, conditions on the ground, and the progress of DPDO’s programs.

Speakers include:

Suliman A. Giddo, DPDO President, a Darfuri from the Kutum area of North Darfur and based in Washington, DC.

Susan Burgess-Lent, DPDO Program Director, with regular mission in Sudan and based in Washington, DC.
Omer Ismail, VP of Advocacy, a Darfuri from the El Fasher area with regular missions in Sudan and Chad and based in Washington, DC.
Steve Harrigan, Solar Cooker Program Manager and based in Fort Wayne, IN.

Request a speaker for your school, congregation, civic organization or Darfur-related event today! Please contact DPDO’s office headquarters at 202-393-8150, or email info@darfurpeace.org:

At least two weeks advance notice helps to ensure availability.
Requesting organizations are asked to pay the speaker’s expenses if travel beyond their local area is required.
Honoraria for presentations are appreciated and will be donated to DPDO’s general operating fund.
