The Problem

There are 3 major issues with "freedom" in today's society. 1) Most people don't even know what it means 2) It is denied to many groups based on gender, orientation, race, etc. 3) It isn't valued like it should be. I aim to not only promote awareness of what freedom is, but the practices needed for a truly free society.

Plan of Action

We held the Day of Freedom event last year as our first advocacy event. We focused on the topic of abortion, and the freedom a woman has to her own body. Participants wore a piece of duct tape that said "FREE" on it, and explained our aims to everyone who asked. We had 102 people participate in several different states. I was so astounded, that I decided to make this an annual event. The youth will be the new voice in this country, and maybe if it is a social norm for us to respect freedom, then a generation from now we will achieve it.
