The Problem

My School over the course of a year disposes about 504 cubic yards of trash. About 37%, 186.48 cubic yards, of this is cardboard and paper. The goal here is to start by recycling the cardboard and paper thus putting less trash into the land fill. Where my school is located not all the schools recycle. I am hoping that my school will become an example for the other schools.

Plan of Action

First, the bins must be bought. For all the rooms about 40 bins are necessary. 39 of these are to be the 13 quart blue bins that cost about $5.95 per bin. The last one is to go in the copy room and is to be 41 quarts bin, since it will get the most use. The cost of this one is about $13.25. Also I will have made the presentations for the encouragement and education to recycle. I will also have talked to the teachers. I will first try the second plan which will be easier in the long run. However, if sufficient funding is unavailable to pay for the recycling to be picked up, $62.50 per month, I will resort to solely students' personal recycle bins and their own willingness. After it has been established my hope is that this recycling program will grow and continue on even after I have left for collage.
