At times, may great ideas or projects get forgotten because of a lack of funding or a lack of outreach and promotion. My project, through the creation of the organization, Design for a Better Future, is aimed to help developing nations become self-sustaining and independent without depending on foreign aid. Through my project I hope to educate teens in the US about issues facing developing nations, financially help developing nations develop sustainable technology, and empower teens to take action. Moreover, I wish to teach students about social entrepreneurship to ultimately develop a new generation of socially responsible leaders that lead with integrity and are globally compassionate citizens.

As a volunteer for Design for a Better Future, I have helped raise over $2000 for my organization’s four partner organizations, with the fund escalating every week. Since my organization’s creation in early 2008, I have educated over 20,000 people about ideas for sustainability and have been featured in newspapers such as the San Francisco Chronicle and the World Journal. Additionally, I have been offered the position as a keynote speaker at the Youth Social Entrepreneurship conferences in March However, believe my biggest accomplishment as a volunteer is knowing inside that my efforts have made a difference in the lives of many, helping not only to inspire but also motivate, lead, and implement lasting change.
