Destiny Special Needs Color Guard

I knew this project needed to be started for this special group of poeple. I applied for grants to secure funding and I purchased equipment. I had to choreograph a routine for them to learn and perform. Next, I secured practice facilities and volunteers as well as participants. I tought the members the routine and we performed around the community at events like basketball games, music department fundraisers, and guard competitions. Destiny is now in its fourth year of existance. This group has had an incredible inpact on the members and the community. The members gained a sense of belonging and also confidence through the performances. The community had gained knowledge about how peole with special needs are not any different than anyone else. They commuinity, by watching the group perform, has been impacted by seeing just how incredible the members of the group truly are.
