The Problem
The DPS, called "Ground Zero" by the U.S. Department of Education is one of the most challenged school systems in the country. Despite the challenges associated with educating children from various socioeconomic backgrounds, a number of schools in Detroit are achieving academic excellence. Some of them are Detroit Public Schools, while others are private and parochial schools located within the City. Collectively, these schools are proving that It Can Be Done!
The Leadership Detroit Education Support Commitee is committed bringing the business, education and parent community together to build partnerships that increase the number of quality education options for Detroit children and teens.
