The Problem

The shortage of youth sports equipment in communities and schools throughout the U.S. and worldwide.

Plan of Action

On an annual basis, Global Gear Drive (GGD) hosts equipment collections and receives donations of sports equipment each year. That equipment is then inventoried, stored and later sent to a selected GGD applicant (school or community) identified as in need of quality youth sports equipment to support a specific program or sport-related initiative in which they are trying to enhance. We will continue this process as we move forward. However, our new plan of action this 2010-2011 year is to help raise more awareness about the program so we can help more communities in need worldwide. We will be launching a national "one world. one team" T-shirt campaign. Our goal is to motivate more existing and future volunteers nation-wide by encouraging them to to be apart of our campaign and efforts at large in order to continue to build the power of sports for children in under-served communities worldwide. The T-shirts will be sold for $15, where a percentage of those shirts will go back towards a community organization, team, or volunteer base selling the shirts to help them raise funds as well. If individuals are not affiliated with an organization, GGD will keep all proceeds unless otherwise requested by purchaser. All volunteers will be asked to go online to purchase the shirts in order to help raise awareness and needed funds to help GGD pay for shipping of equipment to children throughout the U.S. and around the world. GGD hopes to pilot this campaign locally, however take in nationally as more volunteers surface around the country throughout each year.
