The Problem

There are a lot of animals in shelters and foster homes and, while we can't give them all homes, we can help out by adding a little joy in their lives through toys.

Plan of Action

Our plan of action is to make dog toys for shelters/foster homes for animals in the Cincinnati area. The shelter we are working with is Sheltered Paws. Sheltered Paws is a foster care system that takes dogs from the SPCA shelter who are in too poor of a condition to live in the shelter. They then look for owners to take the dogs from there. The "board" is going to precut strips of fabric in different sizes for the different types of dogs. Then we will meet with our club on Saturday, July 9th. Time TBA. There, we will give instructions on how to make these toys and everyone will make at least two, hopefully more. We will also discuss with our club all the different activites, campaigns, and projects that they would like to do this year. The "board" is also going to make homemade dog treats to donate, probably about 90 treats (3 batches).

Project Updates

The items were dropped off yesterday and we got an email from the Sharonville SPCA team:

"From the staff and the dogs, thank you so much for the treats, toys, and blankets! The dogs really seem to be enjoying the treats the most.

If your club would ever like to take a “behind the scenes tour” of our Sharonville shelter, please let me know and I will set up a time to do so. Thanks again!"

Awesome work!

As of July 9th, we are able to donate 33 dog toys for both big and small dogs. The meeting was a success and Ashley H. was our member of the month! Next step of this project will be to make the dog treats! We may also be able to donate DIY dog and cat beds. Impressive work everyone!
