The Problem

Trying to raise awareness and funds for a conference in June 2012 in NYC. After working at Ubuntu in Port Elizabeth last summer (see video) I have connected with some girls there who have been the victims of serious domestic abuse. Ubuntu has agreed to send a few girls over along also I am trying to work with a charter school in NYC as well as girls from my school in Andover MA (no more than 20 teens) and have a series of workshops /speeches etc in the arts. I am working on speakers like Abigail Disney (Women War Peace) and other notable leaders in the arts

Plan of Action

Phase 1-November/December: fundraising, set agenda for 3 day conference, begin to reach out to prominent speakers, create advisory board to help, applied for TEDX livestream Phase 2 January-March: application process for girls who would like to attend, reach out to speakers to line up--continue fund raising but bulk must be done before here to ensure girls travel etc in June I have completed a powerpoint deck and started to reach out to possible sponsors and am working on speakers series Phase3 March-June firm up schedule, speakers, venue, video
