The Problem
It is hard to choose an "issue" that Doc to Dock addresses because it is a response to many challenges. The primary problem is health care delivery on a global scale. Thousands of people die every day because they do not have proper medical supplies to meet their basic needs. On those same days, U.S. hospitals and clinics throw out a surplus of medical supplies that remain usable, wasting valuable medical equipment. Doc to Dock delivers these medical supplies to people all over the world who are lacking the materials to meet their basic needs. Also core to its mission, Doc to Dock values environmental well-being-collecting materials that would be thrown in a landfill and redistributing them to people in need.
Plan of Action
Doc to Dock of Nebraska has been active for three years. Each year, we accumulate more supplies that can be delivered to countries all over the world. It is my hope that Doc to Dock of Nebraska will be considered an official extension site of the Doc to Dock in Brooklyn. The project idea is one that can be implemented in all parts of the developed world. I hope Doc to Dock of Nebraska can stand as an example of how the purpose of an organization can reach all cities. I hope to grow Doc to Dock's mission further, collecting medical supplies from more hospitals and clinics across the Midwest, so more lives can be saved around the world.
