The Problem
Our Environmental Club decided to be a part of the DoSomething.org Dating Abuse Campaign.
Why It's Important
We feel that dating abuse is an important issue, and raising awareness can help prevent it.
The Plan Of Action
We handed out 80 sets of 3 bracelets- two black and one blue- to students around school all day, and told people what we were doing. Not only did the bracelets interest people, but they actually stopped to listen. We also talked to numerous teachers. People enjoyed putting the 1 in 3 statistic into perspective, and everyone had a great time.
How Can Others Get Involved?
Stand up against dating abuse, and help out with future Do Something Campaigns.
Project Updates

Update: Thank you for your feedback! Below is a response regarding the bracelet inquiries:
Unfortunately, Do Something only had enough bracelets for the first 50,000 orders. Everyone who ordered after that deadline should have received an email stating that Do Something is sorry but that the inventory has run out!!
Do Something is really sorry for any inconvenience this caused! The response to the campaign was truly remarkable and they only had enough for the first 50,000.
Check out DoSomething.org/Abuse for other ways you can take action at your school!
Thanks - the Do Something Team

I think it's amazing that you all are taking a stand and informing people of a growing issue. Too many people are found dealing with abusive relationships and no one seems to do much about it. By handing out the bracelets and telling people about it, you are letting your voices be heard.
I'm interested in trying to start something like your group in my school/community. I just have no idea how to start. Any advice?
It is very amazing how you guys are helping make a differance. You know in some places they wont pass a restraining order against people? Sometimes even if you can get one they don't always work. I have a friend who is going through that the guy wont leave her alone. She finally went up to the police and told them what was going on and hopefully they do something about it.
hey i would like to do this at my school, how do i get the bracelets and info?
this is a very smart idea.
i want to do something similar but i dont know how to get the bracelets
i think this is a great way to spread the word on this rising matter and helps those in need..
i really want the braclets to wear and spread the word at my school..how do you get them?

Thanks for your interest in helping this important issue! Do Something is no longer handing out the bracelets, but would definately check out DoSomething.org/Abuse for other related project ideas.
hey will they be restocking soon or never??
As far as I know, the are not. There's a possibility that they will hold the campaign again in the future, but probably not for a while.
I think this is amazing.
The bracelets were a great idea, not only because the kids found interest in them, but because they stood for something meaningful.
Great job getting involved, and keep up the good work.
i love the idea.

Thanks for your interested. Unfortunately, Do Something is no longer distributing the bracelets. You could probably find and order similar bracelets from an online company. I do not know where Do Somethign aquired the bracelets, so maybe email a staff member to find out. I have received many inquiries about the bracelets, and I wish I could help you all.
Keep up the great work!!
Kaitlyn
can they send me braclettes.?
Wow Kaitlyn great job!!! Wish I could have got a head start on the bracelets but I was a little slow!
Thanks Kory!!
This is so cool. I have a do something club at my school. I would really love doing something like what you all did. How did you get all of the braclets?
You really should apply for a Do Something Grant for this! Here's the link: http://www.dosomething.org/dating-abuse/grants.
