Carthage In Action (CIA) group will host a DUI PROJECT, encouraging teens to drive under their own influence - not the influence of cell phones, loud music, alcohol and other drugs. It will also include safe driving information, like speeding, buckling up and not driving when you are too tired. Speaking at the assembly for ninth graders, who are 15 and getting their permits, will be a local parent whose son was paralyzed and later died after an automobile wreck will speak, along with a high school girl who survived a car wreck by wearing a seat belt while her best friend died without one.
A posters will be designed by CIA members and placed in school halls and throughout the community.
Cruise night will be held for students and parents, with refreshments served and representation from insurance companies, law enforcement with drunk-driving goggles, and air-bag demonstrations, etc. Also a dance on the school tennis courts is being considered.

This project includes the design and continued development of computer software used for assessments, the management of data produced by the software, the development and production of reports on the activities of DUI assessment programs certified by the Kentucky Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. Approximately 22,000 DUI assessment records are received each year by the Center. Specifically, DUI assessment records provide demographic information about the person, results of the assessment instruments, and referral information.
