The Problem
I leveled out ground in front of the church that I belong to to erect a flag pole. Along with the flag pole I also landscaped to match the current landscaping of the church. (This was a previous Eagle Scout project that I had helped with.)
Plan of Action
I leveled out the area to be landscaped. I then figured out where to place the flag pole. A 4 foot hole had to be dug to place a 20 foot flag pole in the ground at least 3 feet deep. Concrete was placed in the hole to help stabilize the pole. Black weed-out material was placed to help control the weed problem. I then placed day lilies along the sidewalk edges and rose bushes on the sides. A small walkway was laid to match the walkway of the other garden. This walkway leads to the flag pole. River rock was hauled in and place in the area around the flowers and the memorial sign was placed in the center. Many members of the church and community have commented on how it has made a great impact on the entryway of the church.
