We five communities in two counties to be part of a trash clean-up and invasive/exotic plant removal. Students were first educated about the problems that exist with non-native plant and animal species. The groups was then split into two groups a trash team and an Exotic team. The Exotic team went around a local camp and identified all exotic plant species, which will be removed this fall. The trash team went to a public dumping site located near a very sensitive sphagnum bog which is a type of wetland. The trash team recycled over 200 pounds of plastics and glass materials found in the dump site. Unfortunately they were unable to complete their task due to severe thunderstorms. The exotic team tagged and identified four species of exotic/invasive plant speices.
