The Problem

The problem we are trying to solve with this exhibition is to give education in the arts to children that have been affected physically and psycologically by being forced to become  child soldiers in South America. Also we want to raise awareness about this cause along with funds to continue giving the children education. We will showcase young local artists from Miami to benefit Enable USA, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to help children that have been exposed to the dangers of being a child soldier in drug wars in South America. The organization focuses on providing these children medical and psychological evaluation and treatment, enrollment in school and possible inclusion in an Occupational Rehabilitation Program that includes greeting card art production, jewelry making and woodworking. Young local Miami artists and musicians will use their talent to enable these children to rebuild a new future and a chance to live a normal childhood. Besides this cause we will be supporting a local organization called Voices for Children which will help 2,600 children that are in their database to find a legal guardian, education and health. This organization helps the children that have been neglected and have no home or place to live in Miami and they help them go to court to find them a guardian that will take care of them. This is a beautiful cause. We will held a silent Auction to raise funds for this cause

Plan of Action

We will conduct a silent auction during the exhibit and each artist will have to opportunity to donate an art piece of their choice to raise funds for Voices for children. The audience will also participate in a raffle and the winning prize will be a special art craft designed by one of the children that has been affected in this war. We will also be setting up a table and selling the children's arts and crafts. All the money collected from this will go to Enable USA. We are expecting to recruit more people to join our cause. There will be a list for those who want to be participants of our event to help Enable USA and Voices for children. Our goal for this event is to raise 2,000 usd that will provide a year of rehabilitation to 3 children and salaries for their sustenance. The event will help us launch our long-term goal of opening our own non-profit organization titled More Than Art Group.  More Than Art Group will be mainly to promote local talent and support domestic or international causes. We will organize music concerts, plays, art exhibits and much more. A percentage of the fund raising will be donated to Enable USA and future organizations we support. Our ultimate goal is to encourage young artists to promote their artwork and simultaneously help a social cause.
