The Problem

I am trying to end preventable child mortality. The fact that 22,000 children die every day from lack of basic necessities is appalling. I believe that UNICEF’s approach of establishing a presence in emergency and high-need situations and distributing essential supplies is the most effective way to save these children’s lives. Their “Believe in Zero” is attempting to reduce the number of preventable child deaths to zero. My goal is to help them reach theirs.

Plan of Action

My plan of action for helping to end preventable child mortality is to support UNICEF’s “Believe in Zero” campaign. To do so, I have a two-edged approach: fundraising and awareness-raising. Fundraising, of course, is the most basic, and arguably the best thing that an average person can do to support the campaign. UNICEF needs lots of money if they are to be successful in their goal of ending preventable child deaths. However, I understand that EdinaAIMS can save more people’s lives if we look beyond simple fundraising. Our goal is always to get the members of our school and community actively involved in our fight to save starving children. We see our fundraising events, such as movie nights, competitions, and dinners, as opportunities to make people aware of our cause. Myself and the other dedicated members of EdinaAIMS are constantly trying to inspire others to share our indignation at the plight of impoverished children, and to share our passion for saving them. I believe that the horrors of this world, such as starvation, can only end once people become aware of them. Therefore, my plan is to raise funds and awareness for UNICEF’s “Believe in Zero” campaign.
