Elementary school garden

Stevenson Elementary School will soon have a bike/walk path behind the school so students can have a safe alternative to getting to school. As our path is completed, we will landscape, making an outdoor classroom in the form of a garden. The garden will be planted and maintained by students with the help of science teachers. The plants will be native to Kentucky and the southeast U.S. There will be butterfly attracting plants. We will also have bird feeders and bird baths, along with plants that attract birds. The garden will be a source of education in science, practical living, and will beautify the walking path. The plants will be labeled, so as students walk around the path, they can learn the scientific names and classifications of the various plants.
