emergency communications after a disaster
the problem:
We provide emergency radio communications after an emergency in IA, MN. WIS, MO. ND. SD, in the past 7 years we have been to 5 states to help after a disaster. We are all FCC licensed AMATEUR ( hams ) radio operataors, (( >please do not confuse us with cb radio the two are not the same ! )
vital stats:
people impacted:
1,000people involved:
15why it's important:
Three years ago we received the PRESIDENTS POINT OF LIGHT AWARD !! WE are the ONLY HAM RADIO CLUB EVER to receive this award !, This spring the club received the Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award ! We are here doing the work that needs to be done and we DO IT FOR FREE
the plan of action:
IOn 7 years we were able to raise150,000 $ we used that money to buy the new mobile 80 foot light tower and 40,000 WATT power plant. The two main things we need in an emergency are a fast way to get the communicatinos antennas up and electric power. We not have both !
how you can get involved:
Our emergency communications van is a 1970 Chevy step van and it is now so old we can no longer use it. We need 100,000 $ so we an replace it with a larger up to date mobile unit. If you have questions please e-mail me at
