Vital Stats
See It
I will help every community if possible. I want to help young women between the ages of 10 and 18. This program will educated our young women and help keep them off the street. It is a fact that most young girls engaged in sexual activity and other things right after school. This program will be one that will take place after school. It will be more of an arts program. The young women will be able to participate in things such as creative writing, dance, and other things as well as getting help with their homework. Through my program young women will develop friendships and develop hobbies. They will enjoy themselves and learn that they are a lot of things that they could be doing once they get out of school to keep them from getting in trouble. My focus is on young women for right now because I am a woman and I want to help the next generation. We can all learn from each other. After school programs are really helpful for children. Majority of the childrens parents are not at home when they get home after school. We need to help our children move forward. Eventually I will include young men as well. Eventually I would like to develop scholarships to help the young women in the program go to college.
Believe It
Empowerment addresses the problem because it will be a program that they the young women will enjoy coming to, I don't want them to be forced to come. The program will make them comfortable and it will be a learning experience. They can bring their friends to the program, We will help them focus on other things and take their focus off of the negativity in the world. It is so easy as a young adult to experiement with things and get caught up with things that will get you in trouble. We will speak to them and educate them on everyday life situations that they face. There will be counseling sessions and all kinds of things. Most importantly we will get the parents involved. Parents are an important aspect in the a young adults life, they need to feel like they parents are interested in the things that they are doing. If the parents are interested then they will become interested even if they do not show it. With this program, we will we show these young women or young adults that they have potential and that they can do anything that they put their mind too. Art is an important thing, its good for relaxation and some people may even make it a big part of their lives.
Build It
Empowerment will be a non for profit organization for young women. In order to for my program to succeed, I will will have to get the community involved. I will have to have a group of people who are committed and passionate about helping our young women. I will pass out flyers and do everything that I have to do get the word out about my program.
How Can Others Get Involved?
Others can volunteer their time, if they have have a talent such as writing, singing, dance, etc they can lead a program. If they have strength in a certain subject area, then they can be a tutor. If they have an advice on how to start a non for profit organization then that would be greatly appreciated.
