The Problem

At our school and in our community, we are trying to educate others about energy conservation and clean energy. Our town mayor is on board - he declared March 8-12 as Energy Education Week in White Pine! We had a presentation for our team by a local engineer. During the week, our team members are presenting lessons to different classes at our school. We also created 3 display areas in our school foyer and cafeteria, also known as the commons area.

Plan of Action

We made a presentation for our city council and mayor in February. We got them on board to help us by declaring March 8-12 as Energy Education Week in our town. We booked a guest speaker to teach us about energy sources on for March 8. We learned a lot from his presentation. We also started working on creating lessons for different classrooms at our school. We divided up into presentation teams and began making lesson plans at our weekly meetings. Those presentations start March 11. We asked our principal for space to create 3 energy education displays. We finished those 3 displays at our school yesterday. Our town hall is distributing energy conservation and clean energy newsletters for us. We also gave these newsletters to every student at our school. We have reached over 1000 people with these newsletters. Our local newspaper has also covered our actions with three different news articles - one on behalf of our town mayor and two for our team.
