Our project pertains to working for environmental justice in the South Bronx. We work with a non profit organization called Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice. We focus on empowering the youth in our neighborhood. Our community is divided by 4 major highways that are contributing to higher rates of asthma. On Friday, August 17, 2007 we plan on educating our community on the basic facts of the environmental injustices that we face in our everyday lives. At this dinner, a group of young people will be putting on a service to show the relationship between faith and justice. Our community members will be able to enjoy a variety of healthy foods while learning about our community's issues. This dinner is being held to build relationships with the residents in our community. Creating a strong bond with the residents of the south Bronx will get us to success in moving forward with making our South Bronx more environmentally sustainable.
