My group The Youth Environmentalist Club (TYEC) and I are hoping to "Green" our school as well as to educate the students about ways they can help the environment. We are holding our first annual "Environmental Week" at our school, and we have big plans! Everyday, there are going to be facts announced on the intercom, such as "Turn down your central heating thermostat one degree -- fuel consumption will be cut down my 10%!". Throughout the week, we are going to have speakers, encourage teachers to have class outdoors, and have a recycling drive! Our biggest event though, will be the Garden. Our first step in this event is to receive flower/tree donations from local organizations. Then we will, in a class competition (to get students more involved) buy the plants ( the winning class will get a classroom tree) for dedications, commemorations, just because, etc. Then all of the bought plants will be planted in the grassy area in the middle of the school so all of the students can enjoy it! And all of the money raised will be donated to a "green" organization!
